I've looked in several places.

Is their a decent priced semi auto .308 out there?
I know the FAL runs 1200 or more. But, that is just far to expensive. Anything out there for user $700 ?

One of the HK91 clones might be your best bet in or near that price range, just make sure you do your homework on the make/model.

Well, you can probably get a Remington 742 for under $500, but I don't think that's what you're looking for.

I think you'll be hard-pressed to find a semi-auto 308 for under $1k now. There're a few on armslist and gunbroker but at that price point I'd spend the money on a bolt gun and more ammo.

So you're gonna skinflint out on something that eats ammo that costs like $500 a case? [laugh]

I think a Cetme is gonna be your best option. An AR variant is gonna be $1500 and up. You're going to have to re think what "decently priced" means in regard to .308 if you want a semi auto.

You are going to Alaska. Get an 338 win mag bolt - accurate and pretty flat ! It is about shot placement IMHO. You have to worry about the 4 legged creatures eating you more so than the 2 legged ones! LOL. YMMV.

Century Arms (CAI) makes a HK91 clone - C308 Sporter - $799.95.
Worth a look.

I was thinking the same thing. Growing up my dad's friend had a few semi auto rifles. I always thought they where cool.

It kind of looks like you can put together an ar10 using psa parts for about 700$ or less right now, no optic or mags though

Yeah, complete upper is $450 and complete lower is $240 - total is $690.

Weird thing is if you bought a rifle by combining these two, it would be $850. Must be the mag.

And they wouldn't ship the rifle to MA anyway. I'm thinking I may need an AR-10 soon, but I think I'll wait until I move to a free state.

I picked up one of these. Cant beat the pricehttps ://www.classicfirearms.com/zastava308calibersemiautorifle 10rd M1a mags easy mod to fit hammer forge barrel ak goodness

My .308 AR (which is NOT an AR-10) cost around a grand before optics. 80% lower as part of the group buy (no s/n!). DPMS stripped upper, BCG, barrel, LPK, buffer & spring. Troy handguard. Basic Magpul buttstock. Griffin muzzle device. I did spend some extra $$ on a Geissele trigger and Nikon M-308 scope which put me over $1500 all-in.
