Competition Shooting in CT?

I would like to get into Competition Shooting.
I live in CT (1 mile from the Hartford Gun Club)
Does anyone know how one gets started?
What the costs are?
I believe the Hartford Gun Club offers this, but have yet to see anything posted at there range.

What kind of competition shooting are you interested in? Bullseye pistol? Smallbore rifle? Match rifle? Service Rifle? IDPA? IPSC?

Each sport has its own requirements in terms of gear.

CT Sport Shooters, who host matches at Hartford, are a great group of dedicated IDPA shooters. Talk to Mike, Craig, Ted or Ralph (or any of them for that matter), let them know you're new to IDPA. They will take care of you, let you know what you need, about safety, etc.
