Looks like good stuff to me.

I;m seeing a few pro-self defense laws in there.

Unfortunately, they'll get very little (if any), serious consideration or chance of passing.

On the bright side... I don't see any mention of Patricks "one gun a month" proposal (at least for now).

Looks like good stuff to me.

Kind'a sad though that the state of affairs in this shithole is so bad that easing the laws regarding pepper spray and other non-lethal forms of protection is about the best we can look forward to. And even that will be a battle. [sad2]

It is a sad state of affairs that one needs a damned LICENSE for
frigging OC, whereas in nearly any other state you can buy it like a
loaf of bread or a can of deodorant.

Yeah, I pass the pepper spray hanger at the counter in my local hardware store. [thinking]

Hell, I'm glad to see that at least half of the legislation, even if shot down, is an attempt at reducing the retarded anti stuff going down in MA.

The funny thing is that none of the laws help reduce gun violence period. Enforce the laws already enacted and put the bad guys away.... Unfortunately, there are several in there that are going to do some damage.

Does anyone know if GOAL will be present at the hearing?

I think this one is of the utmost importance.

I want to know when they are intending on busting all of the illegals and unlicensed carrying felons for not having the proper insurance or the reason to carry a firearm. If this crap passes, it will be it for me and this F'ing state.

GOAL is ALWAYS present for these hearings, they ALWAYS provide written testimony as well, and they "work the back rooms" to try to ensure that the bad stuff dies . . . and tries as well to get some good bills passed.

JC on Public Safety and Homeland Security to Consider Over 20 Firearms Bills

Due to the Red Sox winning the World Series, this hearing has been postponed.

[smile]

The Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security will hold a hearing on Tuesday, October 30, at 1:00 p.m. at the State House in Hearing Room A-1. The hearing will focus on a list of over 20 firearms-related bills, including legislation to prohibit gun confiscations and to allow hunting on Sundays.

Information on these bills can be found on both the NRAILA website here http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=3267 and also on the The 185th General Court of The Commonwealth of Massachusetts website http://www.mass.gov/legis/comm/dloct30.htm. The link to the Massachusetts site will most likey disappear after the hearing date, so please review the NRAILA website after October 30th.

JC on Public Safety and Homeland Security to Consider Over 20 Firearms Bills

The rumor is that this hearing will be held on November 7, 2007, State House Room B-2.

Once I've got this confirmed, we can update the links.

I just bought a GOAL sweathshirt and included a $20 donation. I'm going to mail some letters too. I already emailed the governor's office, and got no response, of course. Dou*he.

Confirmed!

The Committee on Public Safety holds a hearing, rescheduled from last week, on firearms legislation. A string of gun licensing bills that are drawing support from both sides of the aisle and one bill permitting hunting on Sundays (H 2315) are likely to command the most attention. Sen. Michael Morrissey has a bill that would prohibit the use of paint ball guns (S 1408). Increased access to non-lethal defense sprays is called for in another bill (H 2385). Rep. Smitty Pignatelli's (D-Lenox) bill (H 2364) would exempt certain elderly people and law enforcement agents from fees on firearm license renewals. An executive session will follow the hearing. (Wednesday, 1 pm, Room B-2)

So, of all these, only the "Katrina bill" made it?

Edit: The "Katrina bill" seems not to have made it, either!

Sounds good for most of it.

I can't beleive someone wants to make paintball guns illegal. I'm not registered as an owner on any state database, haha! take that state.
