Bought a box of ammo today @ dicks, the clerk at the "lodge" handed it to me and I put it in my cart and continued to walk around. Dicks has always walked me up to the register w/ the ammo in the past, anyone aware of a new policy?

Interesting. I've also never been escorted to the register at a couple of different Dicks. Maybe it was something at the one you were frequenting.

dicks in danvers puts the ammo into a plastic bin, locks it, hands it to you and tell you to go down stairs to check out.

now whats entertaining about it is the container is incredibly cheap plastic. like im talking if i dropped it by accident it would totally break into a bunch of pieces. im not sure what this container does, but man does it deter criminals from stealing ammo for their crimes!

I don't think it really matters. I was at the one in Dedham the other day and all they had was dust.

Saugus Dicks escorts you from upstairs to the front checkout with ammo. Could be a city thing, Saugus is wicked anal about anything to do with guns!

I think it depends on the store.

Escort in Brockton, just walk with it in N. Attleboro.

I have had them walk me to the register once or twice, but thats was more because of the amount of ammo I was buying and their friendly offer to help carry it. [shocked]

I have only bought in Brockton and Dedham, as stated Brockton carries it to the register for you, Dedham let me take it myself

Saugus, MA - box of shame, I was told its because they are connected to the mall [rolleyes]

Danvers, MA - box of shame, I was told its because the Danvers PD [hmmm]

Natick, MA - on my merry way w / two 500ct cases of ammo (back in the good ol days) [laugh]

Dedham, MA - escort [rolleyes] i didn't even bother asking. it was a looooong time ago, bought a 702 plinkster and some thunderbolt.

I've always got what chetD calls the "box of shame" at Danvers and Saugus....and they can never open the damn thing on the first try... My guess is they escort you if they run out of boxes....

In Taunton they only escort me when I'm buying a case or more also your not allowed to go back into the mall with it.

that makes so much sense.

A lot, if not most of those people who are buying ammo are carrying a loaded gun on them. Yet they cant be allowed to take boxed ammo into the mall. Simply amazing

Right, but people can't see that loaded gun, so they are able to stay wrapped up in their warm fuzzy blanket of ignorance.

It's interesting how one company can have so many different policies regarding ammo purchases. apparently there is no SOP.

I'm sure it has something to do with the town/city their in, not necessarily corporate policy, and how the municipality want it to be done.... for whatever mindless moonbat reason[rolleyes]
