Burlington, VT Proposes Seizure Of "Assault Weapons" & Magazines

If Vermont is like most states any by law or ordinance will have to go to the AG for approval. So "IF" the AG is doing thier job it will be sent back to the city as, Sorry but does not comply with state law.

Too bad the second half will happen much more quietly than the first half.

You can buy a gun using your drivers lisence in Vermont. Right? - does that mean they are not registered? (sorry for the stupid question, I dont live in VT)

Write to your Senators and house Representatives! Have our voice heard. They may dismiss it but its a way to be heard. Gun-owners of America are not going to have our second amendment rights trampled upon by the minority.
If you have never watched Hicock45 on U Tube take a minute and watch his call to gun-owners.He really nails it IMHO.

Anyone up for a trip north?
EXACTLY what I was thinking. If I am correct, and according to their own resolution, there is no law against open carry in VT. Burlington, VT is a place where we could all meet with our business attire AND "assault weapons" in full view. This could be THE time and place to make a point.

Do you think the anti's (and the anti media) might just love that?

If it's 10 guys with guns, it's sunk. If it's 500 or 1000 or more, "they" might just get the point. I specifically said "business attire". If the crowd otherwise appears "normal" and "harmless" aside from the scary black guns, I think the point will be well made. Just my humble opinion.

Came up with this:

Dear X,

You are about to vote on a resolution that knowingly, and intentionally, attacks the second amendment of the United States Constitution. On June 26, 1989, I raised my right hand and swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Please know, over 22 million veterans of the US armed forces have also sworn this oath. If you vote to approve this resolution, you, by our sworn oath, become our domestic enemy.

As a father of three, I understand your desire to “do something.” Trampling the Constitution is not the right thing to do. In the wise words of Benjamin Franklin, “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

I strongly urge you to vote “No.”

Sincerely,
X

Burlington is full of lefty liberals..to the point where these morons have no idea what they're banning! Read their proclamation, "can legally carry a semi auto weapon on to school property".... Isn't the No Gun Zone bullshit under federal jurisdiction ? Again, no concept of what laws are on the books.

I'm going to go ahead and recommend against vague threats and instead suggest talking about their political opposition.

Good letter......what do you do if/when they tell you to go shit in your hat and vote yes?

Like everyone else... take it up the a$$ until "they" come knocking on my door to confiscate my guns.

In all seriousness... I joined the NRA as a life member. I donated to Comm2A. I vote Republican. I educate anyone who will listen. I get upset just like everyone else on NES. I also live in MA and have to pay for a trigger job on every handgun I buy. My AR stock is pinned, has no flash suppressor or bayonet lug, and came with a 10 round magazine. Like every other gun loving Ma**h***, I am already tired of taking it up the...

Places like Burlington they don't have any opposition, lest not any that disagrees with them. The country is sorting, winning against the main population is getting to be impossible. I'll say it again we all really need to move.

I might include that these types of acts by the legislature are reckless and irresponsible. They are likely to be overturned (if even enacted) and cost the city money to defend. Although these illegal laws might be good political theater, they will have no impact on violence as they fail to address the underlying issues.

I would scrub the part about being a domestic enemy.

Stop voting republican and paying the NRA and you might get somewhere.

Ha, so much for all of the "free state" bullshit that gets thrown out there when people from MA talk about our challenges. I just don't understand how the country has seemed to go full retard over that school shooting. This crap is really snowballing out of control quickly as evidenced by these types of stories appearing daily. I wonder if there is a larger scale "plan" to create "go-time" situation that will cement gun control in place permanently? I'm sure if mass confiscation is implemented there will be several individuals that will have show downs with the gestapo, which they will ultimately lose because there is no organized militia at this point. What I see happening is the few resisters will be made into examples and it will make most of the rest fall in line.[sad]

I don't think it has much to do with the school shooting itself more that we just kinda have been on the edge for along time. I think the two groups in this country that make up the majority and not republican and democrat but free people and socialists. I think we rae on the brink of a watershed moment in american history that will redefine our country for the better or worse. I have herd people say "I have to much to live for if the shit starts" having a wife, 2 children, and a house to support I know what side I would take if things got out of hand and I will choose freedom. If you have to much to live for now should something happen, then what will your children have? A socialist state? A communist state? Slavery? Right now they are in thier chambers contemplating not what the ban should include but do they dare. They are well aware of what confiscation will lead to and they are not sure they want it. Right now the ball is in thier court and they are aware of it. While Fienstien is going all willy-nilly some of the other dems are really considering the backlash that could be felt by this. If things get violent it will literally tear this country in two including our government officials, local and federal law enforcement, and our military. We as a country would be crippled. I only hope that they are smart enough to realize this needs to end and peacfully with no further action but I am afraid they will not.

With all the different attacks going on from all different areas, Something is going to light the fuse. That is what the left or commies are waiting for, They have thier ministry of propaganda in place. So now how do they make it look like those Crazy Constitutionalists?
We are crazy Constitutionalists!

Posted on the fox news link:

Read the original text of the proposed resolution and a factual analysis here:

http://reasontoday.com/2013/01/06/a...uncilor-declares-war-on-law-abiding-citizens/

In short, the proposal is a patently unconstitutional trainwreck.

The councilor's resolution would strip law abiding citizens of their personal property, while at the same time doing nothing to try and prevent another Sandy Hook type of massacre.

And what is a "multiple ammo clip"?

It's all theater.

The pols involved know that it's a legal no-go, both on State and Federal levels, but they still go forward.

Why?

Because, as stated above, it's no-lose for them, personally. They may even benefit politically, if the location is right.

If you ask for the Moon (even though you know you'll never get it), and someone gives you a sandwich, you're still ahead.

As for a Grand Conspiracy, I personally think not. It's closer to the Colonies at the start of the Revolution - Mass and Virginia might have had some common interests, but they were not at the same point in the rebellion. There's been a lot of pent-up energy among the Antis (look at the news about gun control from before Sandy Hook), and this was a spark for their tinder. This is why there are so many assaults, on so many fronts - but they're not on the same page (except in generalities, e.g. High Caliber Assault Weapons with multiple bullet clips are evil!).

Over time, they will merge, get the same hymn book, and find the same page.

We have to do the same.

In the mean time, we'll have a bunch of BS home-rule things like this; a constant babble of talk shows, editorials, letters to the editor, and water-cooler conversations.

We have to be ready to combat each one.

It may not be Go Time, but it's definitely Gung-ho time.

This letter just gave me shivers. Sounds like something from a Quinten Tarantino Movie

These politicians deserve to be hung for treason for even suggesting such unconstitutional bullshit.

Politicians should fear what comes out of their mouth.

Not sure what good it will do, but I did send a personal email to each of the Burlington city councilors using the text I posted earlier. I also notified a friend of mine who lives and works in Burlington. He was not even aware of this situation.

I sent an email to the mayor yesterday. Not that I live in VT but that's where my family is from and most are still there and I would love to be able to move there someday. I received an email today from someone who I am assuming is the mayor's assistant saying that my email was received and she will share my note with the mayor and his staff.

I just posted this to my FB account:

On Jun 26, 1989 I enlisted in the United States Air Force. On that day, I swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Twenty two million veterans have sworn this oath.

The 2nd amendment is listed within the section we know as "The Bill of Rights." It specifically states, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Clearly, any local, state, or federal legislation, intent on removing arms from the people, violates this right, and attacks the very Constitution we swore to defend (from all enemies). Certain members of our government (Senator Dianne Feinstein and others) believe the "Bill of Rights" is optional. It is not!

Our Constitution, the very document we base our country on, is under attack from within. Will 22 million veterans, sworn to protect the Constitution, (and 80 million gun owners) sit idly by while short sighted individuals in our government ruin another part of America? What will you do?

Gun control only gets cemented in place permantly if people are unwilling to use them for their intended purpose.

Just sayin'
