This is a clear example of why we need to pass the Civil Rights and Public Safety Act (www.MassGunLawReform.com). IF the DA is talking about a prohibited person illegally possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, then I would certainly support his efforts.
However, we need to make sure that the lawful citizens that are not prohibited persons and are not committing a crime, but simply are in possession of a firearm without the correct permission slip from the government are not being held at all!
There needs to be a clear separation of the lawful possession issues and the criminal enforcement issues.
Pass the Civil Rights and Public Safety Act and this all gets cleared up.
