Charlie actually does something good to reverse the damage of 8 years of Cadillac Deval.

The Baker administration is reversing a Deval Patrick-era policy that barred the state police from detaining undocumented immigrants at the request of federal immigration officials in a major policy shift officials say is intended to capture dangerous convicts living in the country illegally.

Immigration (illegal and otherwise) is the left-wing Statists strategy to pump votes for their base into the booths.

Prediction: Deval will be Vice President when Hillary is impeached. Make way for President Patrick. Fitting that the first two elected Presidents to be impeached will be husband and wife. Just a prediction.

The legislature will be sure (after they get his sig on the Sexual Predator Protection Act) to pass a bill forbidding it, and then overriding his veto.

Marsha has singlehandedly elected a RINO US Senator and Governor from Massachusetts - that is saying something. Keep and eye out on who is moving to Mass from Chicago as we speak - they will be the next Governor.

Baker only did this to "give back" something to us, after his horrendous support of gender neutral bathrooms yesterday. Deflect and diffuse.

Boston mayor Marty Walsh (still not yet in jail) has already instructed the Boston PD not to enforce this. I guess Boston has now become a sanctuary city.

Well, Marty is gonna need all the votes he can possibly acquire, should he opt for re-election... Only question is whether he's "allowed" to run... Those pesky Federal investigations (and local scandals, possible indictments, bad press, etc etc) might alter or preclude any decision regarding another four years.... but if he does run he's gonna definitely need all the wetback (and tranny) votes he can get......These "ain't exactly sunny days" for good ol' Savin Hill Marty...

Just sayin'

Marty will go down so red diaper carpet bagger city council president Wu, formerly of Chicago, can ascend the throne.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was Wu who dropped the dime to begin with... Cuz you KNOW someone did. Nothing ever gets investigated by anyone, anywhere especially in Boston, especially in MA, especially in (etc) unless someone else dials in and makes an "issue" of it or a "Hey, by the way, guess who's completely dirty and..."

Under the Golden Dome, or in that butt ugly building across from Faneuil Hall, or in most other .gov "palaces" there are many MANY people who enjoy getting off on destroying others lives and careers much more than they enjoy getting off on watching internet porn.

Just sayin'

SWAMPSCOTT — About 40 people gathered Sunday afternoon on the green between Governor Charlie Baker’s home and the First Congregational Church to protest the recent passing of a policy that will allow state troopers to check with federal immigration authorities on the status of immigrants.

The policy change was announced by the Baker administration Thursday and is in line with the federal Priority Enforcement Program, the governor said.

On Sunday, while five state troopers stood by, the protesters stood holding signs that read “Justice for Immigrants,” “Your Policy is Immoral,” and “Don’t Deport My Friend’s Mom.”

Leaders of the Essex County Community Organization, which organized the event, spoke to the crowd about the injustice they see in the new policy. The group sang songs in Spanish, and chanted “Si se puede,” or “Yes we can!”

if the laws on the books were enforced, a lot of this problem goes away. No benefits. No healthcare. No possibility of employment. Fine the employers who break the rule.

People like Matthew Deneice wouldn't get run over and dragged by a drunk illegal until he was dead, only to have said illegal play the no habla card afterwards

Motives and incentives drive all behavior.

The democrats want to increase their voting base.

The republicans want to have cheap labor for the special interests.

The liberal government needs "product" to service.

The invaders want a better life thru free stuff.

Pretty simple to me.

^ THIS!

+ Everybody goes after those who can still produce $$$. They will find many reasons to take it from you and dump it in useless so called "projects" which were created for somebody else's pocket.

Immigration enforcement is the enforcement of laws. These laws also apply in the City of Boston. BPD's job is to enforce all laws of the City, Commonwealth, and The United States. Therefore, it IS their job as Boston Police Officers!

Sorry, he's technically correct. Local LEOs have NO legal authority to enforce Federal Laws and likewise Fed LEOs have no legal authority to enforce state laws.

However, what I read is that Baker wants them to drop a dime to ICE and put a hold on the person so that ICE can pick them up. That is NOT enforcing Federal laws, but working together by sharing intel. It might be a technical distinction but it is indeed different when the rubber hits the road.

A slightly different scenario to make my point, that happens every day. A person is stopped for any legit reason, they run a III and find a warrant out of another state. So they hold the person long enough to verify the validity of the warrant (usually make a phone call to issuing agency) and whether or not they will extradite the person. If the warrant is "no extradite" they release the person, otherwise they hold the person until the other agency shows up to take custody (probably a bit more complicated due to required court process for extradition, but you get the idea). Even though local LE have no authority to enforce other state's laws.

The MA Police Agency, if there was an order of rendition (some use the word extradition which is for inter-country)on the warrant, would charge the person as a "Fugitive from Justice" so that a court process is in play.

Thanks for the terminology clarification.
