Just rethinking the sign thing a bit....they should not say whatever force is necessary. They should say that in all cases deadly force will be used to protect all students and faculty...

in fact that should be the law. Deadly force is required.

It is not just about deterring the person who decides to commit such a heinous act. Of course, deterring this person is the BEST possible scenario. However, as you have stated, some people who are sick enough to do something like this will simply not care about the sign. This is where the secondary reasoning comes in. This is also meant to be able to QUICKLY neutralize a threat inside of a school. Yes, law enforcement does respond very quickly but as we can see from our history, it is not always fast enough. Having armed teachers both deters threats and also enables for RAPID NEUTRALIZATION. Both of these effects are extremely important.
