Will it ever end with these people? What's next sue a car dealer because they sold a car to a drunk driver who then kills someone with the car??

You also get to sue the liquor manufacturer and the liquor distributor and the store or bar where the person bought it. Don't forget them.
 
What they should do is allow the victims to sure the FBI. After all, they administer the NICS checks that the stores rely upon.

and how does a mfg negligently sell to a criminal? There must be tons of criminals running distributors all over the place. Oh wait, nope: Just the ones on the Mexico border the FBI ran.
 
Sure and let's expand the legislation so that people can sue retail stores for the misuse of knives, car manufacturers and dealers for the misuse of cars, sporting goods stores for the misuse of baseball bats, clothing and shoe stores for the misuse of shoes because of people who've been stomped with a shod foot and on and on....

If you pass legislation that allows people to sue for the misuse of one product, then pass it to allow people to sue for the misuse of all products and see where that gets us. Nowhere.

Exactly, Overweight people can sue fast food, ugly people can sue their parents......it will never end.

Might as well sue the Treasury that printed the cash that allowed said person to purchase the liquor in the first place too....See how deep down the rabbit hole these foolish quibbles can go you silly democrats.
 
I never understood this. Why can't people sue the baby mama's in the hood for their wombs producing criminals. The principle is the same, only in my example often parents do bear part of the blame for lack of parenting.
 
I agree with this law if we can expand it to include cars, so people can sue GM and the UAW every time someone gets hurt in a car crash. I think that's fair.
 
first...they shouldn't be allowed to sue the store. I consider guns the same as all products. If the product failed and caused an injury much like a car or a toy then you would have a case against the manufacturer for a defective product.

But manufacturers and store owners should not be held responsible for negligent use. Imagine the doors this would open. Every car accident people would be suing the dealer or the manufacturer or both. Car manufacturing companies and dealers would go out of business in a heart beat. But not before you see prices soar on the costs of motor vehicles.

The problem with a bill like this is that it is product related with an expectation that everyone who buys it will never use it negligently or criminally.

So how easy could this bill be transferred to include drunk drivers? Or what about that woman who ran over all those people in Vegas?

It will reach too far because you know someone out there will push it that far. And it will relate so auto manufacturers will have to be held liable for all criminal activity in a motor vehicle. And they should probably go after liquor store owners, distributors and manufacturers of all alcohol products.

I do not think that is too far of a stretch with a bill like this. JMO....

They already go after bar owners and bartenders who were anywhere in the chain of events when someone kills/injurs soeone while driving drunk.

No such thing as personal responsibility any more.
 
Is this what they mean by commonsense gun laws?


So we should expect a similar law allowing people to sue car manufacturers and dealerships as a result of vehicular homicides?
