And I wonder...

Always remember that more elephants have been shot with the .303 British, than any other caliber.

A handgun isn't my first choice to kill a Black Bear, let alone a Grizzly. They only scare them. The 45 could get it done (Black Bear), considering I use 185 Hollow Points, and a stiff load.

That's what a lot of people have said. They would want the 500 SW with them if they were around bears.

I have been around Black Bears. I'll stand by my statements. Kinda sucks when you don't have ammo, though. I've seen more of them at Fort Drum, than anywhere else.

I've bow hunted for blacks (no success) but when it comes to a grizz, bigger is definately better.

In other words, Tony, size DOES matter.

[lol] [lol]

Absolutely! Well, sort of, you see, it's not the size of the round but rather, where you place it, so to speak.

The kicker in this? The Captain of the boat said they were on the endangered species list. Endangered species my arse. [roll]

I don't know about endangered but they are regulated now. When other fish stocks were being limited, dogfish were not. A huge market was found (English fish & chips for one) and they were hit pretty bad. Everyone who could got in on dogfishing and now the stocks have dropped.

They must have discovered Viagra for them then Jon, cuz that sure wasn't a depleted sea when I saw them. Either that, or they injected a whole bunch of them with bunnies genes.

I hear ya Lynne but their present numbers can't sustain the market that's out there for them. It may seem like a lot of them around but not nearly what they used to be. When I was a kid, there were days we were out there and thats all there was, dogfish. We'd kill them and chuck them overboard. When my father was a kid, they used to dump the pollack overboard.

I'll have to scan some of the pictures of my wife, daughter and I diving in the Bahamas right in the middle of about 40 feeding reef sharks. Some things look like food and some things don't. Sharks have evolved to the point that they're not dumb enough to think that I or anybody with me might fall under the heading of "food". [evil] [evil] [evil]

Do you guys ever get hit with tornados down there?

Thanks heavens! I thought we were going to get hit with one two days ago. The T-storm blew like a damn Nor'easter and it was as black as night outside. A few trees came down in the area, but thankfully no where near my condo or car. :D
