Active shooter Brockton Cop shot

Drug deal went south. Shot the other guy then the cop - came outside and ended it. Described as the quietest gunshot I've ever heard from someone who was there.

It's definitely not how it sounded from the radio traffic. I won't go into further details, but there didn't seem to be a particular rush to get him to the hospital.

That's because he was done. Brockton Hospital is a mile away. Good Samaritan 15 minutes if lucky.

And that's why police departments are encrypting their radio systems.
Damn near every PD in Southern NH is encrypted.
Reason was Good Samaritan is a Trauma Center. Brockton is not.
Yes, Level III - enough to stabilize someone to get them to a Level I trauma center in Boston.

From Wikipedia:
A Level III trauma center does not have the full availability of specialists but has resources for emergency resuscitation, surgery, and intensive care of most trauma patients. A Level III center has transfer agreements with Level I or Level II trauma centers that provide back-up resources for the care of patients with exceptionally severe injuries (such as multiple trauma)

News showed the video of him coming out and picking up something in the driveway before running into the dark and "ending it". Curious what that something was...

My comment on Level III trauma centers is that I have about the same capabilities with my left over equipment from being a paramedic.

If he was viable, they should have flown him directly to Boston.

He came out hands up onto handicap ramp and dropped gun on the ground. Staties had dogs and he freaked out and jumped under rail picked up gun ran back onto ramp staties let dogs loose and when they reached him he shot himself in the side of the head. Revolver. Not sure of caliber but left a nickel size entry hole. The cop was shot and hit from 2nd floor window estimate 30 yards. Hit leg, thumb and side. Guy could shoot. Other bad guy shot hanging out the door of the SUV dead through the whole thing.

32 sounds about right. Here he is at the young age of 20 back in 2009 peddling morphine. $1000 and a continued case.

Kevin Serpa, 20, of 34 Roundtable Lane, Taunton, was arraigned on Nov. 20 Taunton police charges of trafficking in morphine and failing to signal. Curtin ordered him released on $1,000 cash bail and continued the case to Jan. 22.
