357 and Blue Dot

I'm going to start loading 1000 357's and have a bottle of Blue dot that I want to use. Has any one have a favorite load for Blue dot using 158gr Hornady xtp's.

My S&W model 66 Likes 10.2 BD. The Blackhawk does not care what goes down it. It shoots good with them all.

I've used BLue Dot in .357 for years. works great. Check current loading manuals for charge weight data.

I'm trying a test-batch of 50 (JFP for mine) tommrow and I'm only using 10.0Gr.

Maybe I should dial it up?

EddieCoyle found out that 10.5 grains of BD under a 158 grain JHP equals a factory load via perceived recoil and chrono speed, so I just went strait to that load as it was exactly what I wanted to achieve.

I just tried out the 10.0 Gr load with 158gr FMJFP bullets.

I'd say it was brisk enugh as-is so for now I'll stick to this load level.

Nice fireball out of my 4" colt!

Blue dot

Alliant's guide states 10.7 as MAX with 158's. I think my load is a little under 10.

After shooting 50 rounds of 10grs. of Blue Dot with 158gr Hornady xtp's I have to agree that is a nice load. Used a 4 inch model 28 got less recoil than I expected.
