22LR Military Trainers

Have been looking at 22LR US Property trainers. Mossberg 44 or 144 look interesting, but maybe should be looking at something a little better without breaking the bank? Any suggestions?

If you want to do some reading on the subject, try "U.S. Martial .22RF Rifles" by Thomas D. Batha from Excalibur Publications. He covers just about every .22 rifle the military used. It might give you some ideas.

Just be warned: Once you start collecting these, it's difficult to stop.

Keep and eye out on the cmp page. Some time they release some 22's but they sell out fast. I got a rusted kimber. Still looking for the rust.

Interesting. I just cleaned up and ordered a mount and scope for my Mossberg 44 US that was given to me at age 15, 60 years ago. It was my first rifle. I hand checkered it. Looks like hell, but one of a kind. Good to start shooting it again after about 55 years. Jack.
