I've had a serious hankering to get my M39 out in the snow, and a opportunity opened up this (early) evening around 4:30pm, so I packed up and headed to the range. I got there just before 5pm, so daylight was thinning to say the least. Still plenty of reflection off the snow to see the target in low light though. Some day, someone is going to bitch about 'some weirdo laying down in the snow, shooting after sunset' like the rules forbid, but until then i'm going to keep making entries for bragging rights that have YET to be earned (by me).
Speaking of which...what's the top score, Mr. Mountain?
Anywhoooo...without further adoooooooo...My Finnish Sako M39 war dog likes to shoot HIGH! like about a foot, but WHAT AN AMAZING GROUP for shooting in the near dark!!!

anyway...it was REALLY getting dark by my second string and there were a couple cars in the lot over by the pistol house, so I had to get my shots off quick with a fresh hold at 6 o' clock leaving a little bit of white in between the edge of the target and the black.
to give you some prespective...

still shot OK for what it was...i think this rifle has some serious potential once I get a taller front sight post.

and it was so decent, I figured I'd take the target indoors and get another shot of it for you score sticklers hounding me for my pasties. definitely looks like a 90/1x to me. Without those high shots I would have been in the pink for sure!
