1911 sight help

I purchased these sights for my Smith and Wesson 1911pd commander and niether of them fit they were both to big.

So first things first, can anyone tell me why they don't fit so that I can avoid making the same mistake in the future. I think its cause novak cut and novak lomount are a different cut but im not sure. Next can anyone help me find similar front and rear sight either on midway or on another site. that will fit my 1911.

Smith uses their own dove tail sizes and are not the same as any other manufacturer. You must use sights built for Smith.

Novak makes replacements for S&W, I bought some for mine.

Well I guess that explains it doesn't it. Now does anyone make a SW 1911 rear sight similar to the one I purchased?

How good are you with a file? Keep in mind, things could get ugly!

Personally, I'd buy the sights with the proper cut!

well since I already bought it and it wasn't to expensive I may give it a shot and see what happens
