19 year old made Olympic team, his 17 yo sister just missed a spot. Mom says she didn't like guns but once she realized her son was fascinated with them, she thought training at the range would be a better idea than letting him figure it out on his own.

Congrats to Mass Rifle in Woburn, too - that's where he trains!

I used to shoot smallbore with the Scherers'.
Steven well deserves to be where he is. He has natural talent but works hard at getting better. His sister Sarah is just as good and beat him on many occasions. His mom is a pretty darn good shooter as well.

With competitive shooting start-up costs averaging $5,000, the family lived "very cheaply" in order to participate, Sue says, and last year, the Scherers couldn't attend nationals because they didn't have enough money.

Wish we'd heard about that - we could have taken up a collection to send them.
