"Fast And Furious/Gunwalker" mega-thread... was: ATF director expected to resign...

Email confirms DOJ knew about GunWalker.I suspect this will pretty much take Holder and Breuer, then ...... who knows but I would love to see the golfer in chief under oath-without a teleprompter !

http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/email-confirms-gunwalker-known-throughout-justice-department/

"An email cited in Senator Charles Grassley’s testimony in front of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Operation Fast and Furious indicates that knowledge of the program was spread across the highest levels of the Justice Department. This lends even greater suspicion to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s claim that he knew nothing about the program until well after Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed.

The October 27, 2009 email from ATF Phoenix Field Division Special Agent in Charge (SAC) William Newell regarded a Southwest Border Strategy Group meeting that focused on Fast and Furious. It contained a laundry list of high ranking Justice Department officials that attended the meeting, including:

Assistant Attorney General (Criminal Division) Lanny Breuer,
Kenneth Melson, Acting Director, ATF
William Hoover, Acting Deputy Director, ATF
Michele Leonhart, Administrator, DEA
Robert Mueller, Director FBI

Four other Justice Department directors or their representatives came from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), Bureau of Prisons (BOP), U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), and the Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA). The chair of the Attorney Generals Advisory Committee (AGAC) also attended the session. Their names were redacted in the released document. U.S. attorneys for all four southwest border states also attended."

Melson apparently has no intent to go under the Obama bus and take a hit for the team.

The ATF's acting director, Kenneth Melson, has been singing like a canary to congressional investigators as he pushes back against administration pressure for him to resign and take the fall for something that, at the very least, had to include the US Attorney's Office, the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration and possibly the Homeland Security Department.

In a letter to Holder released yesterday, Rep. Daryl Issa and Sen. Chuck Grassley accused the Justice Department of blocking their investigation into the burgeoning scandal (which has resulted in the deaths of at least two American agents and countless Mexican civilians), muzzling the ATF and involving other federal agencies, including the FBI and the DEA, in funding the crackpot scheme.

Check out the ATF email in the link below, seem like they now have proof Fast and Furious was set up to promote gun control :

Operation Fast and Furious: Designed to Promote Gun Control

"Internal ATF emails seem to suggest that ATF agents were counseled to highlight a link between criminals and certain semi-automatic weapons in order to bolster a case for a rule like the one the DOJ announced yesterday [Monday]."

Townhall has obtained the email which states "Can you see if these guns were all purchased from the same FfL and at one time. We are looking at anecdotal cases to support a demand letter on long gun multiple sales. Thanks Mark R. Chait Assistant Director Field Operations."

I just logged in to post this.

So it looks like the BATFE ignores the alarms from the FFLs, instructs them to let the sales go through, fails to track the buyers and lets the guns out of their sight, and then tries to justify further restrictions because the guns were sold.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Here is some news on the funding of "GunRunner";

Someone in Congress knew about Gunrunner, and Obama signed funding for it into law
Over at the Free Republic, a poster found this:

I posted in the thread: “Only time “gun” or “firearm” appears is in the part that give $10,000,000 to the ATF for Project Gunrunner. That was H.R. 495, asking for 15,000,000 for Gunrunner”.
H.R. 495 that I mentioned never made it out of committee, but it looks as it was to specifically fund Gunrunner.
Instead portions of it were rolled into the stimulus package a month later. That text found in H.R.1 is:
For an additional amount for ‘State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance’, $40,000,000, for competitive grants to provide assistance and equipment to local law enforcement along the Southern border and in High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas to combat criminal narcotics activity stemming from the Southern border, of which $10,000,000 shall be transferred to ‘Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Salaries and Expenses’ for the ATF Project Gunrunner.
Notice that’s $40,000,000 for Southern border enforcement, $10,000,000 of which specifically for Project Gunrunner. What does $10 million pay for here? It didn’t hire any new agents that I am aware of.

So Obama didn’t know anything about this, but he signed $10,000,000 in funding for the program. This thing would stink on a dung pile. It’s time for indictments.

Gunrunner and Gunwalker aren't the same program.

There is also “Operation Castaway" (and at least one other unnamed Operation in Dallas).
Looks like they can't hide the evidence fast enough,and more Congressman are asking questions;

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/upd...w-demanding-answers-about-operation-castaway/

"Now three Congressmen- led by Rep. Bilirakis of Tampa, Florida- have sent a letter to the John Morton, Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), demanding answers on “Castaway.”

and Rep Farenthold is calling for Holder to resign and saying it was a "Conspiracy to regulate gun owners"

And.. Issa and Grassley are looking at witness tampering by the DOJ !

http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/gunrunner-justice-department-tampering-with-witnesses/

they also sent off another letter (shown in link above)

"The other letter sent to Holder names the people the committee says it knows for a fact had knowledge about Operation Fast and Furious. Of the 12 names on the list, there are a couple of particular interest. One is Lanny Breuer, former special counsel to President Bill Clinton and current assistant attorney general for the Criminal Division. Another is Deputy Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Blanco.

PJMedia has heard from sources that since DOJ’s attempt to make Acting ATF Director Ken Melson the fall guy failed when he turned King’s Evidence, DOJ is now planning to make Blanco the sacrificial lamb.

A third name of extreme interest: Gary Grindler, Eric Holder’s chief of staff.

It’s a bit difficult to believe that Holder’s chief of staff knew about this operation, but Holder didn’t."

Holder has to go. Calling him a slimy weasel is an insult to slimy weasels.

How much of it have you heard in the MSM? Nothing happens unless it happens there.

Nope your wrong, this is way to big and has "legs",Holder,Bruer maybe Napolitano, then who know. Its not going away.

Not sure we can get impeachment of the golfer in chief but its going much higher !

It seem there are even more emails that suggest(prove)Gunrunner/Fast and Furious was indeed created to support further gun control efforts by this administration.

http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/more-gunwalker-emails-suggest-gun-control-conspiracy/

"Even more damning: the existence of more emails that confirm these same ATF officials and others were colluding to use the Operation “Fast and Furious” guns that they helped smuggle into Mexico as a pretext for the new reporting regulation.

Congressman Darrell Issa and Senator Charles Grassley continue to unravel this plot. Along with the emails proving that the ATF was using “walked” guns to justify stricter gun laws, they sent a letter to embattled Attorney General Eric Holder asking the following:

1) Is there any other evidence suggesting that ATF of DOJ officials discussed how Operation Fast and Furious could be used to justify additional regulatory authorities for the ATF? IF so, are there any such indications prior to July 14, 2010?
2) Rather than collecting additional information on law-abiding gun owners, what steps have you taken to ensure that the ATF is better able to act on the information it already possesses to interdict the flow of firearms to criminals?

If most of the claims regarding this scandal are substantiated — and developing evidence certainly indicates a high likelihood of that happening — we face a watershed moment in American history.

So what they could not do by legislation based on fact, they are trying to accomplish by subterfuge and purjury!

Whatever else happens, one thing is clear:

Were any single FFL caught, even accidentally in violation of even a fraction of the laws and regulations the ATF is here, they would, at best be offered, "surrender your FFL or face charges." More likely, given the severity of the charges and magnitude of the violation they'd not only lose their FFL but be charged as well.

The same should be done to the ATF. Shut it down now. Then we can discuss who gets charged with what.

We must stop tolerating repeated colossal failures of government agencies and then just let them apologize and try again. No, sorry, no second, third, fourth, fifth chances... Done...

Whats interesting is that the ATF was not being told that the straw buyers they where letting walk the guns over the border where FBI informants !
Add FBI Director Muller, to Napalitano and Holder to the treason list !

http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/gunwalker-atf-targets-were-actually-fbi-informants/

To simplify: the Department of Justice was paying ATF agents to ignore federal laws in order to provide weapons to criminal informants paid by the FBI, who then distributed those weapons to other cartel members who killed federal agents from Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement plus an estimated 150 soldiers and police in Mexico.

"Deputy Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Blanco is now being set-up to take the fall, neither man has the authority or reach to initiate or approve this kind of operation. It is unlikely that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was unaware of such wide-ranging and vast operations that involved every law enforcement agency within the Department of Justice. It is also possible — even probable at this point — that he perjured himself in congressional testimony."

I'm sure it won't take too long for Obama to kick Holder to the curb and have him take one hell of an ass raping in an effort to save his own skin for the next election.

I agree and would love to see Holder do the perp walk.Obama is going to "need a bigger bus" when the time comes to start throwing people in his administration under a bus !

Just to keep this going, both Issa and Grassley have gone on record that there was criminal activity in the Obama administration.

http://americaswatchtower.com/2011/...een-involved-in-criminal-activity/#more-22459

"Eric Holder has already testified in front of the Congress that he knew nothing about this botched operation until it became public knowledge, yet we have video proof that Eric Holder knew about Operation Gunrunner from its inception, so right there Eric Holder is guilty of perjury and lying to the Congress under oath; even in the unlikely and unbelievable event that Eric Holder did not know about Operation Gunrunner and did not engage in “criminal activity” before his testimony he certainly has engaged in criminal activity when he testified before the Congress that he knew nothing about this operation when he clearly did. Just ask Scooter Libby how well it goes when you give false or misleading statements during an investigation."

Looks like next Tuesday should bring some more info;

"It appears as if Darrell Issa and Chuck Grassley are not going to let up in the near future; the Oversight Committee has scheduled a second round of hearings for next Tuesday and the noose is tightening around Eric Holder’s neck (am I still allowed to use that phrase?) and it shows no signs of loosening any time soon."
