Your thoughts on compact 1911s

A 3'' 1911, if made well, will function OK with hardball, two hands on the gun, firm grip.
But start feeding it JHP, especially +P, and shoot one handed, and you'll have nosedives. That's 1911 inherent design flaw fully explained here, and 3'' guns are more prone to nosedives than their 4.25'' and 5'' sisters.
Can a 3'' 1911 be made reliable with +P JHP and limpwristing? Yes, it can if you don't mind doing some gunsmithing and trying various springs to make it work right. Otherwise, keep shopping.

i have a S&W 3in Pro Series your welcome to try out if your ever on the northshore, it eats everything ive put in it so far from 230g reloads to 230g Federal Hydra Shoks.
 
Uh....just google "Glock Recalls" for some entertainment! Glocks MUST be junk.....even though I've never owned on, nor fired one.[wink]
