Winchester & Hodgdon Powder Interchangeability - FYI

I picked this tidbit out of the Oct-Nov Handloader Mag, page 29. It states that load data is 100% interchangeable and
there is absolutely no difference between them.

H-110 is the same as 296
HP-38 is the same as 231
HS-6 is the same as 540 (discontinued)
H-414 is the same as 760

It is NOW but that wasn't always the case. If you look at recent data it is exactly the same. If you look at older data there is a difference so be careful blindly interchanging them using old data.

Good point. This was written so that if you were looking for one powder and couldn't find it, you could substitute but use current loading data.

The statement from the factory (which I received on 1/23/2003). I was only asking about HS6 and HS7, so this should not be construed as to undermine the accuracy of the other matchups listed earlier in this thread.
