I have a brand new in the box unfired S&W M617 10 shot revolver in stainless steel with a 8 3/8" barrel. I know S&W doesn't make this anymore and was wondering what it might be worth now. The revolver is new and unfired. TIA Jim R.

$100. Trade you a Jennings for it.

KIDDING.

I believe that NIB 10-shot 617s with the 6" barrel are selling for between $550 and $600. I'd guess you could use that as a starting point, but that's JMHO...

From the current Blue Book of Gun Values, on line edition:

MODEL 617 (K-22 MASTERPIECE STAINLESS)
- .22 LR cal., K-frame, stainless steel variation of the Model 17 (K-22 Masterpiece), 6 (6 in. full lug barrel only beginning 1999) or 10 (new 1997) shot, 4, 6, or 8 3/8 (disc. 2002) in. full lug barrel, satin stainless finish, combat trigger and Hogue rubber grips are standard on current production, semi-target, 41-52 1/2 oz. New 1990.

Grading 100% 98% 95% 90% 80% 70% 60%
MSR $758 $495 $385 $250 $195 $160 $135 $115

Add $16 for 4 or 6 in. barrel with 10 shot, or $54 for 8 3/8 in. barrel (disc. 2002).
In 2000, this model includes target hammer with 8 3/8 in. barrel. 4 and 6 in. barrels were standard during a limited production period in 1991.

Thanks for the info and link. The 6" M617 is still in production. I think the production on the 8 3/8" ended in 2003 or 2004. So I can assume this gun would be worth more to the right person. I did do a search on the three gun websites AA, GB and GA for this gun and could not find one listing with this barrel.

Thanks, that is what I was looking for. Mine is the target model.
