That is a Naval night vision scope, good find, it's worth a few dollars. Looks to be from the 70's or early 80's. You might try 30mm rings to mount it.

I had googled "Lewyt" a little bit, but didn't make the jump from vacuum cleaner designer to nuclear powered night vision optics.
Apparently he invented the clip-on bow tie, as well. To make it easier to dress corpses.
