Westchester County Handgun Permits

Hey,

I have always told myself that once i owned my own place that i would get protection for the house/apartment.

As a westchester county resident i am entitled to a rifle, shotgun... pretty much anything but a handgun.

If i were to apply for a handgun permit, should i apply for a target permit or say it is for protection? I believe in NY you have to plead your case in front of a judge. I have only briefly read about the laws but i think that is how it goes.

Any advice would be great!
