Value of 30 year old Marlin?

My 336 30-30 was made in 1977. I bought it used in 84. I paid $195 for it at Riley's. I wish I'd bought the 336 35 Rem standing right next to it at the same time for the same price. I still have the 30-30.

Maybe location matters, but here in MO it'd maybe bring $400-$500 depending on how bad a buyer wanted it. With some honest wear from use it's not uncommon to see them in pawn shops all over for $275-$300
I may be looking for a .270 once I get out there. I'll keep the 30-30 I already have though.

I bought a beautiful early 80's era 30-30 with a jm barrel about 6 or 7 years ago for right around $400. I asked my dad to store it for me as I was living in a small condo. He hid it in a big old TV box in his basement, then forgot about it and threw the box out. Ouch - I miss that rifle.

A friend has a 30 year old 336CS in 30/30. Claims it is new in the box, but there are some scratches from storage. Current used ones seem to be around $800, but I am guessing the older ones were higher quality and probably worth more. Anyone have an idea of value? NOT for sale, but owner is looking for value for insurance

Is it stamped on the barrel "JM" ?

Have a 336c in 35 Remington I bought at a pawn shop some 40 years ago, for $140. Have a crappy Bushnell on it. Whacked a 250# Russian Boar at 80 yards, stoned it! boar.jpg
