And here's Stage 1 - Risk/Reward

Damn that is awesome. Nice shootin. Seemed like you never even reloaded, probably because how quickly you do it lol.

I really wish my club was able to do this as it looks like so much fun. I'm well over an hour away from these clubs that hold these events whereas my club is 5 minutes from my house.

The key is to reload when moving between shooting positions. That way you're not standing around reloading when you could be shooting. My reloads are definitely not the fastest, but as long as I'm done before I get to the next position it's all good.

Gloucester is a bit of a hike from the clubs that do USPSA/IDPA stuff, but it's worth making the drive at least once to try it out. Some folks drive well over an hour to come to matches at Harvard (my "home" club).

Great match! Big thanks to Dave and the NB crew for all the work and for opening up their club to us. More thanks to the competitors who wisely chose the tape over the whip of El Pres [wink]. I shot on staff day and didn't get every stage on video but did remember to hand the phone off for a few runs...

I had a great time today.

This version is a little blurry because I tried to keep the file size down. I need to figure out how to export better quality without making the file huge.

Smooth move avoiding the bridge on 7.

Yeah I definitely need to try at least once for sure. One of these days I'll have to get in contact with you or another NESer at these clubs.

Shameless plug for the Hopkinton Intro to USPSA class which we run once a year at the "beginning" of the season. I know it seems like a long way away since the season is just winding down but if you're really interested in the sport keep it on your radar! You can check this thread from last years class to see what I'm talking about [thumbsup]

Awesome thanks! I'll definitely keep it on my radar.

My mediocre match.

I finished about how I thought I would. A few disappointing moments, but I got out of the sport what I put into it this year. Still fun times with a bunch of friends. I should get the bump to A class also once they use this match as a classifier.

BigDaddyAl, drop me a PM and let me know what software you are using and I might be able to give you some suggestions for your conversion or exporting setting.

Idoktr just just sent me video of my runs on Six Speed and Eight Speed...I'll have to cut it in and re-publish [wink]. Figures I come in 4th in Production on a stage worth very few match points! At least it was a good recovery after I drilled that clamshell no-shoot with my third shot of the match [sad2]. Pro Tip for all you beginners out there, the order is:
1) Clamshell opens
2) You shoot target

Do not reverse the order.

I belong to a small club that is 5 min from my house. Harvard Sportsmen's is about 45 min from my house. I shoot at HSC these days.

If you want to compete, get in your car, come to a match, and stop with the excuses. There are plenty of people that drive a couple hours to get to a match.

Nick, was that Rob running the camera on Raiders? I had no idea he was going to do that, probably better that way. It did make for a great video showing the Denton route.

It was not easy to RO that stage being shot in that sequence, there was one less experienced competitor who got lost/confused and really scared the crap out of me.

Pete, had you shot the steel poppers clean on Raiders, you would have beat my time for sure.

Sean, Yes, that was Rob running the camera. He told me that's how he ran it, and I said I would stay back when I recorded him.

I would say that was definitely the most memorable stage of the match, good stuff.

I worked the big green stage at A7 last year, and it had a long run backwards part and I frequently got scared of some less experienced shooters.

Haha I know I know, I'm spoiled having my club 5 minutes from my house. I wouldn't mind driving to HSC maybe once or twice a month but it'd be hard to do every weekend. They have these shoots every weekend or? I'm sure I can find my answer looking at their website but thought I'd ask anyway.

It's good that I didn't know because I would have grabbed the back of his shirt [wink].

On the confused guy: That makes two of us, I had to tell a few people to not come forward at all because I honestly had no idea where he was going to go.

And if my Aunt had nuts she'd be my uncle! [rofl]. I had problems on steel all day, just not watching the front sight I guess. Just for kicks I think I'll put it into that Max App and see what it says up to just before that reload, that way I can really cry about what could have been! A lot of people focused on the swinger as the deciding factor of Raiders, and no doubt it was a biggie, but that array of poppers was a sneaky time sink for A LOT of shooters.

Harvard and all the other clubs that run USPSA matches in the area do one match a month. 5 minutes is the limit to how far you want to drive?? I've had to drive 3 hours after the flight to Albuquerque!

You could shoot every weekend if you wanted to and had the time and money. I personally live about 45 - 50 minutes away from Harvard, Worcester, and Hopkinton and shoot IDPA, Steel Challenge, and USPSA on the weekends when time allows. I try to fit in 2 matches a month.

Here are is a handy calendar for many (most?) of the events in the area: http://public.ical-mac.com/wmccurdy53/week.php (linked from this NES post: http://www.northeastshooters.com/vbulletin/threads/234481-2014-Pistol-Competition-Calendar)

Yeah it's really the time that is an issue. I'm gone traveling (driving all over New England) for work every week so when the weekend comes, I got to get caught up on yard work/other house stuff, spending some time with the fiancé, walking the dog etc. Not super critical things but got to keep the girl happy ya know how that is lol. Anyway enough excuses, I'm sure I can dedicate at least 1 weekend a month to make the drive out for a match. I need to have some time to myself outside of work and house stuff. Thanks for the links.

See the match schedule at uspsa-ne.org

If you want to do well in action shooting you need to do more than hit a match once a month. You need to practice.
