Got a friend who wants to build an AR, he wants to use a 7.62x39 because the rounds are cheaper. Does anyone here have any experience with these uppers and can they be mated with a 223 lower or is it like the AR10 lower I have coped his e-mail below and any help you can send me would be great. I have only built and shot 223 for highpower competition.
I'm thinking of building an AR now that prices have normalized, and since you know way more than me about them, I figure I'd ask you. In order to be AWB compliant in CT: No flash hider or bayonet lug, am I missing anything else? I'm thinking of going with a 7.62x39 upper so I can shoot cheap.

Some of my questions to him were
Are you ever planning on shooting in any high power competitions?
Does the 7.62x39 upper the same lower as the .223?
How much cheaper is the 7.62x39 per 1000 compared to .223.
.223 is reloadable and you have friends who can help you out with that.(me)
