"Peaceful protest" seems to be the only option they have left, and at that, for how long? Good luck with it. They should storm Parliament and beat their lawmakers to death with shovels.

Of course, I would never condone lawbreaking or ... gasp ... violence.
 
Glad to see those gun laws are working over in England. When I was over there two years ago they had billboards warning of the dangers of these guns to the criminal's family and how they should be turned in.

Not that the gun ban stopped scotland yard officers from patroling their headquarters with submachine guns either.

The only downright unsettling thing was the video cameras EVERYWHERE in downtown London. Way to big brother for my taste.

One of my favorite speeches is by Patrick Henry. These days, when our elected officials have forgotten that it is they who serve us, and not the other way around. When they are bleeding us white with tax burdens. When their incompetence and greed have put our nation in mortal economic danger. When 90% of Americans oppose their hard earned money being used to bail out banks and corporations due to our elected officials failure to oversight. When We The People have to go without and worse, "spread the wealth," due to our elected official's socialist ideology, their incompetence, corruption and greed, well, I find Patrick Henry's speech comforting to read, and lately I have been reading it a lot.


"No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve. This is no time for ceremony. The questing before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. The British DO NOT have much of a history on gun rights!!! Look back at their history. For centuries, the only people legally allowed to hold arms were the aristocracy--peasants were prohibited from having bow/arrow and swords. Later, as recently as 1850, Brits land owners were responsible for planned genocide to rid Ireland of local share-croppers by starving them during the potato blight famine.

They basically have a history of NOT providing rights to common people, and for basically tricking the common person to work/give their life for the kingdom/aristocracy.

Why is it unusual for them to restrict the people's rights today, only 100 years later?

There is a good reason people left England and sailed to the Americas!
 
I don't think there's a single person on here who would actually lift a gun against the government. Try it and you'ld last about 15 seconds against the local SWAT team. No cop and no military are going to join your side. They, too, like their creature comforts and their paychecks. They like their warm homes, their SUVs, cable TV and visits from the grandchildren. If you lived past the 15 seconds and took to the woods, you wouldn't be able to take all your shit and be able to watch the Military Channel and DVDs of "Defiance". (is it out yet?) You'ld end up freezing your ass off or shot through the brain. Both of these are poor career if you ask me. And for What? Your guns? Guns are fun but they sure as hell ain't everything. Don't any of you hero survivalist types have other hobbies? And tell me about "losing are rights." We've been slowly losing those for the last 200 years. Haven't seen anyone yet die for our right to privacy and all the other Constitutional rights that have erroded or been suspended. But guns?How the hell are they different? I don't think they are. So all you tough guys out there: I have to think you don't own anything or have money in the bank, something to lose. Man, do you sound silly to me.

John, I think overall you are on the right track, and its an honest discussion to state that most Americans faced with actually having to stand up for their rights or liberties by making the ultimate sacrifice are lacking.

You wont find many Patriots out there when it comes to leaving the wife and kids behind, when it comes to standing up to commerce in light of commerce striking down your rights (IE: workplace carry restrictions), you wont even find them taking time off from work or vacation to rally, march, or hold speaking events.

You also wont find many in Law Enforcement that will state that they will not act on illegal orders, or fail to uphold the Constitution. You wont find many Soldiers who will do the same when an order like that comes as walking orders.

But those people are there.

For our fellow citizens, 'Patriots' we have to realize that they are out there, there are many whom would lay down their lives, and its up to us to recognize them.

One could state that its also up to us to join them when the times comes.

But its up to us now to read between the tactical terms like 'Furtive Movement', 'Weapons Cache', 'Fully Automatic' and 'Officer Safety' that you see plastered in the press just in order to introduce another restrictive law. Its up to us to read through the crap and see what really occurred to ensure that those sacrifices/slaughters were not in vain. Its up to us to speak up so that those slaughters arent slaughters but murders and those who committed them are held accountable.

Being a patriot doesn't always mean you need to be on the forefront shooting at anyone who represents authority. It can also mean holding those who are accountable accountable, speaking up so that our voices are not lost in the din and rise towards authoritarianism/socialism/communism. Being a patriot sometimes is being vocal, working within the system while you can and when you can't deciding just what you must do for your God given rights and liberties. Men many years ago did the same, from many walks of life and they were as well comfortable in their lives..so its not so hard to imagine even in modern times we doing the same.

You could argue that that did start from the barrel of a gun, but it really started with protests...you know..people speaking up.
 
We've all seen the Star Wars movies, those guys couldn't hit a barn with a cannon. We will be able to overpower them and steal their armor. Then we'll intercept the flight with MassMark on it, free him, then blow up the Deathstar...or my Dodge. Either one I'm cool with.

I am a member of both, and JPFO, GOA.
Some might consider the NRA to be a compromise organization on gun rights and I can see their point even if I do not agree.
Look at the Clinton AWB, every gun owner KNEW it was BS. THey were just banning cosmetic features which have little, if any effect on the weapon.

Realisticly if the NRA had been too open about that they would have made the law different banning all those guns AND it would not have proved anything when they blame the "increase in gun deaths" on the expired AWB.
 
This is what happens to countries that march down the road of socialism and nanny statism. Great Britain was once the cradle of the concept of "English Liberties" on which our own country was founded. It makes me sick every time I hear how far down the rabbit hole they have really gone. At best a dire warning for our own future.

If you don't know the history, England banned all legal ownership of handguns many years ago with very little resistance from its people. It was thought to be a good measure to bring down gun crime. The result has been double digit increases in gun crime every year since the ban. Since then the country has taken away many more freedoms, to hunt, to defend oneself from harm, and finally its citizens are speaking up.

Many of us who put time into defending gun freedom are ridiculed that the loss of gun freedom can never happen here because of the second amendment, yet we have seen throughout the history of the US that lawmakers eager to protect their own power will readily pass laws in violation of the second amendment. To this day, even after the Heller case, Chicago is fighting an NRA lawsuit to protect their own unconstitutional handgun ban.

If it were not for YOU, the American gun owning public, who so cling to freedom and defend any affront to it, we would end up much like England, whose citizens are now reeling in the face of ridiculous violent crime rates and a government that does not represent their interests.

Forward this to your friends. I have not seen anything this powerful in a long time and it should "go viral" as it is called to anyone in America who questions those who fight for firearms freedom now, before we lose it.
