Seems the next Governor of the Great State of Texas wants to make "open carry" legal there.

As a former MA resident, and currently a resident of 2 states that allow it I am all for it BUT

The good Gov.-elect Greg Abbot may be TECHNICALLY correct, bus sadly misinformed about the plight of the residents of the Commonwealth of MA.

"By JIM VERTUNO
Associated Press

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Long depicted as the rootin'-tootin' capital of American gun culture, Texas is one of the few states with an outright ban on the open carry of handguns.

That could change in 2015, with the Republican-dominated Legislature and Gov.-elect Greg Abbott expected to push for expanded gun rights.

"If open carry is good enough for Massachusetts, it's good enough for the state of Texas," Abbott said the day after his election last month.

And if Texas, which allows concealed handguns, embraces open carry - rolling back a 140-year ban - it would be the largest state to have done so."

Where in MA could you possibly "open carry" without your permit being yanked on "suitability" grounds, and/or charges being filed for disturbing the peace, assault, mayhem, or anything else the local PoPo could toss your way

At least in NH, the cops have gotten the point that open carry is legal ...anyone remember former NES member "Doobie" and his marching around Concord with a sidearm?
