Hot off the press...

I'm no longer on campus (having graduated recently) but there is a money-bomb date announced. I'm not sure if they did this last year. Every little bit helps!

SCCC Announces Its Third National Empty Holster Protest

Students for Concealed Carry on Campus will hold its third national collegiate Empty Holster Protest during the week of April 20-24, 2009. Thousands of college students throughout the United States, organized under the banner of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC), will attend classes wearing empty holsters, in protest of state laws and school policies that stack the odds in favor of dangerous criminals and armed killers by disarming law abiding citizens licensed to carry concealed handguns virtually everywhere else.

The protest will focus on sharing the facts of concealed carry with students and faculty who may not be aware that concealed carry laws exist or that those laws differ on college campuses from most other locations.

Students for Concealed Carry on Campus will neither host nor endorse any protests during the week of April 13-17. April 16 is to be a day of remembrance for the students, faculty, and families affected by the Virginia Tech shooting. SCCC wishes to avoid any action that might distract or detract from the memory of the individuals lost on April 16, 2007.

We all invited our friends when we first joined, but you've made new ones since then. Find one friend who you haven't invited to the group yet and invite them.

Tuesday, April 21: FACEBOOK PROFILE DAY
Give your Facebook profile an SCCC makeover: put a link to ConcealedCampus.org in your Facebook status update all day, and change your profile picture to reflect SCCC and the college-enforced defenselessness.

Wednesday, April 22: Letter Day
Check your state page for pending legislation, then visit our Write My Reps link and send a personalized e-mail or letter to your representative. Then write a letter to your student and local paper and politely express your support for concealed carry on

Thursday: Radio Call-In Day
Call in to local and national radio shows to express your support for Students for Concealed Carry on Campus. (This is especially valuable if you are a parent or teacher.)

Friday: "Money Bomb Day"
Donate $5 or more to SCCC. Students are not known for being wealthy, but if set aside just $5, and each member gave $5, SCCC would really be in a position to fund some great projects on behalf of the group. If you can give more, fantastic.

Don't forget to follow SCCC on Twitter.
