Still has his long game. Emergency funding can still occur. Another shutdown may give him the opportunity to lay-off many federal workers too. I would appreciate this if done wisely to cut the fat so to say. Of course the MSM would twist the narrative more but I digress. Don’t vex your soul paying attention to the MSM too much.

I do not see him increasing unemployment when he is boasting that unemployment is the lowest in 50 years.

I don't understand how we couldn't have caved and gotten something besides a wall in there- reciprocity, HPA, something.
He got some 4D chess played on him.

Trump's "if we shutdown, it's all on me" statement looks really bad in hindsight. Once he said that, there was no coming back and all the Democrats had to do was say "No" to any request. He put himself in a lose-lose and perhaps overestimated the willingness of the Democrats to come to the table. There was no incentive for them to do so.

This. I think the massive air traffic controller issues today put it over the edge.

Will wait and see. He has now called the Democrats bluff that they would negotiate in good faith if he reopened the Government. Let’s see. If they don’t he can point to this and call a National Emergency. I also heard something about a law that allows other funds to be used to secure a drug corridor.

Exactly! If he doesn't get a satisfactory deal, he can call the state of emergency and blame the donkeys.

I think that he should quit and let everything go to shit. Let's get it over and done with. Jack.
The way I see it, whatever is broken, and there is plenty, if we haven't fixed it yet, then I figure it's not going to get fixed. In that case you're right Jack, f**k it all. Not my first choice, but I'm not in charge.

Not so fast. It only opens the govt for 3 weeks.

Now it is his chance to show that he cares, open for 3 weeks, the dems dont agree on anything, then shut down again. He gave some, now it is their turn.

No one won or lost here, but if played right, Trump could win here.

Although no matter what he says or does, the media will still paint him as the most horrible Preaident ever.

Although, I dont think Trump has ever been a good negotiator, he just spews that BS. His lawyers saved his a** from the early days. And when you have money to invest, it is very easy to get a good deal by just sitting there and demanding stuff.

Most of his good negotiation claims are based in getting the banks to give him a break because taking the name "Trump" off buildings would have screwed the banks over. And that was his legal teams work.

I think hes calling the Socialists bluff. Hes already offered up bunch during the shutdown. They didn't even come to the table. They asked for the .gov to temp open so they could negotiate, he did it. If they refuse to secure the border he said he'd do it himself.

We will see shortly if he wins in 2020.

Wasn't far off though...

Shutdown Sets Off Airport Delays as F.A.A. Announces Staffing Shortages
The delays on Friday cascaded along the Eastern Seaboard, reaching as far north as Boston. As the F.A.A. rerouted flights and slowed air traffic, passengers saw delays of up to two hours at La Guardia, which was closed off to inbound flights until late morning. The delays began to clear around midday.

The F.A.A. blamed the trouble on a slight increase in the number of controllers calling in sick at two of its air-traffic control facilities on the East Coast, one near Washington and another near Jacksonville, Fla.

He is setting up the Dems to hold the bag. Three weeks to make a deal. They will take this as weakness and push for more and come away looking like the beast they are while the President appears to be reasonable. The battle here is for the moderate Democrats next election and this kind of play will deliver.

Know what your saying but, My thought was, in the beginning he should have offered to resign if they came up with the wall funding and NR. If they took it he could retire with his savings and Pence would be prez. If they didn't, the demorats would eat each other alive for not getting rid of him. Win, win, win.

Or, he could have made a plan to actually cut spending and reduce the size of the government while funding the wall.

But that is too much to ask from any politician.
