does any one know what size brass punch i should get for my mosin and enfield sights? and also where do i get one i would guess a hardware store or home depot?

I had to use a standard steel Craftsman 1/8 punch on my M44 Mosin to move the front sight.

I've tried brass and found anything requiring a punch is strong enough to bend brass punches. I had a set once and I can't remember where I got them from, but after bending them trying to move front sights and taking out SKS firing pin retainers, I wound up throwing them away because they were useless for everything I tried them on.

You can use steel as long as you're careful and use the biggest size you can get away with. That way there is so much surface contact that you don't really notice any signs of damage to the area.

I've used a brass machine screw to knock out front sights. I made sure the end of the screw was flat by putting it on a grinder and did the same with the head.
