I sent a e-mail to Sigarms about the Evolution (GSR) .45 being Massachusetts compliant. I asked when (if ever) it would become MA compliant. They responded by saying "it's already on this list."

So, can I buy the damn thing in Massachusetts now?

The only Sig on the list is listed as 1911-45-S and thats been on the list for atleast 2 years now, but you still cannot buy it because its not been blessed by the A.G. Also sig on there web page list many 1911 that say they are not MA. compliant.

I doubt it will ever be compliant unless the AG's regs get dumped or
coakley comes out and says "we're not enforcing them
anymore" (in not so many words, of course) but I certainly am not
holding my breath.

I'm currently under the impression that SIGARMS is only making a limp
wristed attempt at selling their guns here because of a general lack of
profit. It's hard to justify blowing all kinds of money on testing for
minimal return. On 1911s, they now have to compete with Para
and S+W, who already have a bazillion models on the MA market. For them
to recover costs would be difficult. The big dealbreaker so far appears
to be that they don't have a notch in their barrel for the LCI... and maybe
they can't justify the increased cost of using notched barrels for short
runs of MA guns.

Another reason the -original- GSR was never sold here is that SIGARMS knew
it was a piece of crap, so I think they didn't bother to even add it to
their lineup for this state. That would have been disastrous for
them trying to sell any 1911 here in the future. The irony is the stiff
regs here actually worked as damage control for SIGARMS.
