Well, for a change it looks like we may have a nice sunny day this Sunday at Harvard! What better way to spend it than to come on down and attend an Appleseed Shoot? Hear the story of April 19th, 1775 & learn the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship.

This is a one day shoot - all the instruction that's normally done on a Saturday will be there on a Sunday, so if you work on Saturday, or Saturday is your Sabbath... this is the shoot for you!

Get there by 8:30; safety briefing starts at 9:00 SHARP. Plenty of room left on the line so far and we have enough instructors to run a second line if needed, so come on down.

General jist I've heard is bring something that you can afford to shoot a lot of. Some of the classes I've seen suggest bringing 4-500 rounds while other classes have suggested double that number. Most sessions typically suggest using iron sights as well.

4-500 rounds will suffice for a one-day shoot. 1000 rounds is a two day shoot... at least here in New England. Iron sights on your rifle as well as a sling are good but whatever you bring is fine. (We strongly recommend the sling and the iron sights) Rifle should be 8mm or less for a caliber (no 45-70s, no .50BMG... anything from a .17 to some sort of .30 battle rifle is just fine.

Appleseed is a learning experience and not a competition.

So this weekend we are NOT going to get rained on. We're going to get broiled instead. [smile]

Make sure you bring sunblock and some water. We'll have some water there but you definitely want to bring some of your own.

Pat from Harvard Sportsman's will be firing up the grill in the clubhouse for hot dogs and hamburgers. Cold drinks will also be available for purchase for lunch.

If you have a sunshade you want to bring, feel free to do so.

Oh, yes... bring something to put over your rifle while it's lying on the line when you're not shooting - it'll keep it cooler. Something like a white towel.

Want to say a quick thanks to the all-volunteer crew at Sunday's shoot. This was my 1st, but definitely not my last Appleseed. A ton was learned in that one insanely hot day. I'm also proud to be a member of HSC which provides a great venue.
