I just acquired a Pedersoli Sharps 1859 Infantry Rifle .54 percussion. It came with s s bunch of cardboard tubes, Rapine bullets, wads etc. The tubes are made by Charlie Hahn who also installed a modified breech block and O ring gasket system that eliminates gas leakage. The rifle is used, but in mint condition with a Vernier sight installed. One end of the tube us sealed with tissue paper and the tube filled with black powder. A wad is placed/glued on top of the powder column .The edge of the bullet base is lightly coated with nail polish and seated on top. Once dry the bullet is dipped in lube. Ignition us a percussion musket cap. Oh yeah, I guess one pokes a hole in the tissue end when chambering.View attachment 220438 View attachment 220439 View attachment 220438 View attachment 220439 View attachment 220440 View attachment 220441

Goose you’re killing me. I can’t wait to see some videos.
Stop trying to get me to spend all my money on beautiful guns.
Have you looked into nitrated paper for the base or does tissue burn reliably enough? I know lots of people use cigarette papers for revolver cartridges with good success too.

I have been looking into a lot of methods. Nitrate paper is generally used on hand made paper cartridges, which I will try. However, tissue seems to be the norm on these tubes. All new to me.
