For service rifle, if dry firing to a dot on the wall. Can anybody tell me what would be the height of the dot at a normal indoor distance of 5-10 feet for each position?

I would like to practice and train my natural point of aim properly to the target height.

I'm coming from a bullseye background where I would just measure the height of my front sight while in position and then put a mark on the wall with a dot of corresponding width to the downrange target. The target is at a known height.

I don't have faith that I can do this accurately at the range with the distances involved.

I guess what I'm looking for is something like "put a 1/2" dot three feet up from the floor for aiming at 10' in the sitting position"

I hope this all sounds understandable.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to getting into this discipline.

Have someone measure the height of your eye off he floor in each position. Put dots at those three heights.
