I'm looking for a recoil pad to fit the Tapco AK47 synthetic stock (as seen here: http://amzn.com/B00271B5D6). This seems to be a popular stock so I was wondering if anyone has a picture of a pad on their gun or can recommend one that would mount on it. The only tapco one I found was designed for the T6/M4 collapsible stock. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

standard AK buttstock pad will work on Tapco stock since it's a cone of russian stock

it will add a length of pull which what most people get it for but it's not much of a recoil pad compared to limbsaver or pachmayr. it will increase area of impact making recoil slightly less noticeable, and generously rounded edge won't bruise as original metal plate

there are other pas out there that are true recoil pads and will soften recoil quite a bit if you are after that.

I looked at the limbsaver stuff, it looks like I'd need to custom trim one which I'm not interested in. I did come across that pad you linked to but I'm hoping to find something not so clunky.

if you just need it for reducing recoil then you can just try one of those inexpensive brown recoil pads they sell at bass pro (or other similar store). they have three sizes sm, med and lg. small should fit AK stock it's pretty decent recoil pad too, although i have not tried it on my AK but i did put couple of them on Mosin and SVT. adds about .5 inch of LOP IIRC. if you want more LOP or more cushion you can insert neoprene cutouts under it (use old soft foam type mouse pad)
