What was the final outcome of the guy who shot the maniac who was stabbing his psychiatrist at MA General a few years ago? That was a case of using deadly force to protect a third party.

I think that guy might have been an off-duty LEO, or something similar, so he may have had different rules applied.

That gentleman was an off duty security gaurd for the hospital. He was also raked over the coals until proper legal aid was provided. It still took quite awhile until he was cleared.
Personally if he turned the gun in my direction I would blow him away otherwise let him take his $50 and leave. Mass Sux!
