No, not the kinetic projectile program. This is the now-defunded effort by the ATF to disrupt weapons trafficking supply chains between the US and the Mexican cartels.

In short, there is Republican interest in discovering the details of the ATF's defunding of the program, and the Democrats' approach is to push a bill that does the following:
  • Ban possession and transfer of .50 caliber rifles.
  • NFA existing .50 caliber rifles.
  • Weaken the PLCAA so shooting victims can sue manufacturers and dealers who, presumably, violated the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act.
  • Ban the sale and transfer of firearms to those for whom a NICS check would show a Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act flag, which would require a change to NICS.
  • Require FFLs to report multiple rifle sales to an individual to state and local governments.

I would be particularly interested in hearing details about the "military-grade" weapons allegedly sent to the cartels since that suggests involvement by the US military.

Alleged congressional concern about the ATF defunding it:

Maybe they should start with investigating Fast and Furious when the ATF forced gun dealers to straw sell to known gang/cartel buyers and then told their agents to stop tracking the guns once they were purchased. 🤷‍♂️

Mike Vanderboegh was the first man to break that story. I truly miss him.
