I have an opportunity to buy 100% original, not a part kit, pre-ban real Zastava AK made in Yugoslavia. as much as i know about AK's here in US this type of AK probably the best AK. Condition is very good looks unfired with 4 pre-ban mags.
what should i expect to pay for it? seller asking $1300.

$1,300 is a lot for an AK (in my opinion)!

7.62x39 and fixed stock I presume?

Some data from another website....supposedly gathered from the importer

Break down of Yugoslavian AK/RPK/M-76's

1,400 7.62x 39 Folders
700 RPK
280 M-76 Countersnipers
1,120 .308 M-70s Standard Model
3,500 7.62 x 39 M 70 Standard Model

Pre bans imported prior to 1994 were 2000.
Here is the breakdown:
400 7.62 x 39 folders
200 RPK (40) in .308) and (160 in 7.62 x 39)
80 M76 8mm Countersnipers
320 .308 M70 Standard Model
1000 7.62 x 39 M 70 Standard Model

Post ban M-90 were a total of 5,000. Here is the breakdown:
1000 7.62 x 39 folders
500 RPK (400 in 7.62 x 39) and (100 in .308)
200 M-76 8mm Countersnipers
2,500 M70 7.62 x 39 Standard Model
800 M70 .308 Standard Model

The post '89 import rifles had the night sights taken off and the spring detent at the muzzle frozen to prevent someone taking the muzzle brake off and exposing the threads. The underfolders had a thumbhole stock installed with the folding stock fixed in the folded position.

From what I read:

There were some pre-1989 import ban Mitchells' and American Arms Yugo's in the country, usually marked AK-47 or RPK-47. The M90's were sitting in a bonded warehouse when the import ban hit.

Mitchells modded them to ATF spec for the time to be able to sell them.

If its a pre pre ban ...It should have ak-47 marked on it and from what I have seen I think 1300 is a pretty good price.

If its a pre/post Mod 90 marked, I think its an ok price. (condition means a lot too and you said looks unfired?) Did a quick check on GB and this past month an Underfolder M90 pre ban with 4 mags was listed @ 1399, although you could tell it was used.

Its been a while since I've been in the collecting mode for ak's, I just hope I provided enough data to get you researching further.

Who is the importer?

I suppose that does seem a little high but who knows. If its a pre ban and you really want it and it seems to be in good condition grab it.

I paid 1100 for my Polytech pre ban AK (with bayonet and underfolder) a few years back.

Who is the importer?

Thanks for the info JD09.
this is a 7..62x39, underfold M90 with night sights it is imported by Mitchel. I did find on gunbroker.com very similar AK for $1399. most likely the one you are talking about.
it look like twin brother of the one im talking about. btw its hard to believe it was unfired. so if this is very similar AK to one from gunbroker you think its a real pre-ban?
thanks

A few of these were actually marked "AK47". If this one is and it was not etched off, I would do it. Yugo's are nice and the "AK47" models particularly tend to bring in more money.

For future reference ones stamped with Ak-47 or Rpk-47 are pre 89 ban

From my understanding the scrubbed and etch M90's are in short really legally post 89 ban (almost like the MAK-90's story)

Some claim there is a small float of exceptions, BUT those that are supposedly came with a certificate from ATF stating in in short that the particular rifle is an m90 in allowable preban config. I am pming you a link to that discussion from 2000 from another forum.
