I am looking for some advice on this. I have a S&W Model 36 serial#J99XXX The gun is an older model maybe early 70's its in good shape,however I noticed pititng all along the inside of the barrel. Is there any way to clean it up at all. You can still see the rifling in the barrel. Any feedback would be great.

Try some JB bore paste, really give it a workout, and clean - repeat. If they are discolored spots etc they may polish out. They make a bore shine product as well, but I haven't tried it.
