Out of state gun GIFT????

I have a friend of mine wishing to give me a 10/22 as a gift. Its his weapon that he no longer uses and wants me to have it. Am i correct in sayng that all i need to do same as regular transfer??? FFL transfer?

You need to do an FFL transfer. You can transfer it from an FFL in either state, but you'll need to be physically present at the transfer, and you need to watch out that you're not violating any state laws for possessing the gun in whichever state you do the transfer. If you transfer the gun in your friend's state, you need to file an FA-10 when you bring the gun back to MA.
