This exactly. Narrowing it to the tool used makes the US look insane. We obviously have a higher rate of gun suicide than Japan. But Japan has a much higher suicide rate. Never understood why the antis are more concerned with the method of death over the numbers of death or underlying causes. Simarlary, one would expect that there are more car crashes in Toyotas than Deloreans. its because Toyotas are more common. and certainly not because a Delorean is safer. It's also interesting to see that the majority of violence takes place in economically deprived congested metropolitan areas where people are locked into a welfare system with bleak job opportunities. In the US it's gun violence/ the tool of choice. In Europe, these areas have a similar rate of murder and violence, but the tool happens to be different. Too many variables to get in the way of an antis feelings.
And if we look at murder-per-capita rates by state, New Hampshire owns it for the past 10 years or so with rates that hover between 0.8 and 1.5 per 100,000.
Massachusetts, which is probably the safest, anti-gun state in the country, is usually double that rate.
