NRA Poll

I saw the survey mentioned in the April 2013 AMERICAN RIFLEMAN p97, where 89%+ of NRA members polled opposed various gun laws. The note was made that the survey was "stratified by state to reflect votor distribution in the 2012 presidnetial election".

This means that they may have directed sampling based on the % voting for Obama or Romney. So if 1000 were sampled from 50 states, or 20 per state, then that 20 was increased or decreased based on the % vote in the state. That is, if 60% voted Obama, rather than 20 surveyed, only 18 were surveyed. If 40% voted Obama, 22 were surveyed. I can't see where this is valid.

Both sides cook polls.

But it's not a popularity contest. The US Constitution is designed to prevent tyranny of the minority by the majority. Executive Orders are a way around that in the short-term, but SCOTUS is the control in the long-term.
