I picked this up sometime last year from a NES member. Of all my WWII bolt action milsurps I love shooting this one the most.
Went and researched more about it since this always looked like a sniper model to me and found that it was slated to become one. It's one of the 'less telescope' rifles that never got to have a scope fitted but they were selected for their accuracy and whatnot. Why? I don't know, still learning. Probably ran out of scopes, who knows.

I managed to get my hands on an authentic scope and shipped it out to the best guy to handle Enfields in the US to be fitted and to go over the rifle and after months of waiting, it's home!

Can't wait to try it out now with the scope

Very Nice ! I have grown to love my No4 also. I thought about making a clone sniper out of it.
It shoots pretty darn good (would pass for the 4 or 5 moa specs needed for sniper build )
I found cast bullets to be much better and sneaking down into 3moa range. Just think it would be cool to have a sniper clone to sling lead out to 200 yards.

Beautiful! You can get .303 ammo for 16.95 a box too!
I have two 1949 fazerkley and a 1943 long branch the long branch oddly is in finer condition than the 1949. It shoots beautifully and is great at 200yds.

*drool*

I'm a huge L-E fan. It was unquestionably the best bolt-action rifle of WWI-WWII in terms of capacity, rate of fire, and accuracy. As the old saying goes, the Germans brought a hunting rifle, the Americans brought a target rifle, and the British brought a battle rifle.

Got to the range early and not many people were around.
It's as fun as I remembered it before I shipped it out. Except now with the scope I can at least see what I am hitting.

I still have to work on how to shoot the thing though. I can be on target for 50 and 100 yards but not grouped particularly well.
I prefer to stand and shoot offhand

I had very good luck with the Hornady 0.312" 174 Gr Round Noses out of a rough bored SMLE No.4
- the Speer 0.311" 180gr RN's weren't bad either

Interestingly, the Sierra Match Kings 0.311" 174 BTHP were all over the place - so were the PPU 174 pointed FMJ's
