New MA State Record Alligator

A local man felt sorry for the 4' alligator that's been seen in the Westfield River this summer and fall, so he set out in his kayak to see if he could find it. On his second day of searching he saw a snout, paddled over and scooped it into his boat, taped up its snout and turned it in to Fish and Wildlife. He said it was lethargic and undernourished, probably wouldn't have lasted much longer. It will go to reptile rehabilitation facility and be seen in schools soon.

Alligator captured in Westfield River

An alligator was safely rescued from the Westfield River Tuesday morning, after reports of it being seen in the water since this past summer.
