Need help with new AR-15 handguards

Today this handguard set http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=793469 arrived via UPS and it came without instruction.

I don't really have too much knowledge about the AR-15, I've only broken it down for cleaning once before, so I'm wondering if any of you kind folks will be able to share some of your knowledge on how to change out the handguards.

It seems that the delta ring needs to be slid backwards toward the stock, but I do not know how to remove the handguards after depressing the delta ring; am I not depressing it enough?

Probably. The process CAN be done alone, but it is not easy. There are tools to give you better leverage.

Best bet right now is to find a friend who can hold the ring while you pop off the old and install the new.

Yea, my brother is helping me with it. We've managed to get the factory guards off and the top of the new set on, now we're struggling with the bottom piece.

What kind of tools are there?

I put a flat head screw driver on either side of the delta ring and depressed it while my brother slid the bottom piece into place. Thank you for the tips!

Works well for me.

I recommend such a tool as every so often you should remove the handguards and clean/protect the outside of the barrel. Especially if you used the gun in damp weather.

Oh man! That makes things so much easier...jeeze!

You can make one of these pretty easy with a piece of steel rod and a torch to heat the metal, making it easier to bend. Costs about $2.00.
