Just walked out of the PD with my LTC/A restrictions None. I've seen some posts where folks have had their names spelled incorrectly, but this one boggles my mind.
I flipped over my license and my place of birth is listed as 'Mauritania'. For those who may not know where this is, it's nestled right between Western Sahara and Senegal on the north west coast of Africa. I actually had to Google it when I got home. I have no idea how Arlington, MA translated into Mauritania. I could see maybe a wrong town or state or something, but it's not even on the same continent.
At first, I though maybe I was adopted but my pale Irish skin just doesn't support that theory.

Anyone think I'll have any problems with this?

I think it's funny, but I just don't want to get hassled.

It's good to see we're inclusive and diverse.

That's better than my situation. My LTC listed my DOB as 7/8/2003. Kmart and Wal-mart and some mass dealers wouldn't sell me guns or ammo because I was only 1 year old. Worse thing is, my police dept. told me if I wanted it changed I would have to pay $100 and re-apply.

So what ended up happening? Did you get it straightened out?

Sounds like some PD's bizarre alternative to a restricted license.

I think I'm just going to go with it. I didn't notice it until I was out of the station. I read the CIA site info about Mauritania, so I know enough to fake it, if anyone asks.
I think I'll go claim my native land now and set me up a casino.
I'll send you all a postcard.

You know what would be really screwed up, is if it said something
like "Franz Josef Land" or "Antartica".

mystic,

Ask the PD to have it corrected, at NO CHARGE!

Springer, contact CHSB and advise them of the error AND tell them the PD won't do anything without another $100. They should fix it, ship the new one to your PD for you to pick up. NO CHARGE!

1 Chief ago they made an error on my LTC and the Chief initially refused to fix it. I called MSP (back then they did them all), explained the situation and was told to tell the Chief to send a letter with my LTC back to MSP for re-issuance correctly. No Charge. The Chief told me I was a "PITA" . . . I just smiled and told him to take care of it. He did.

Well, I gave it a try this morning and no issues. I wrote my correct birth place on the forms and when they called it in, all seemed fine. Thanks all for the support, info and and being so accepting of pseudo foreigners.

Hey LenS, if they have to send you're license back with the letter to issue a new one, would they make you turn in you guns, since technically you wouldn't have a license or would you just have to lock them up at home until the new one arrived?

Lock them up.

From a purely legal point of view, they could confiscate, but I do NOT know of any PD that is that stupid. Taken to court, I don't think that any judge would go along with that if appealed and it might cost the town dearly.

No, this is the restriction on your license. You can only carry, purchase, or store your firearms in Mauritania.
