My head is about to explode.

Over lunch, a Ukrainian coworker was expounding how we need a dictatorship in this country to fix all the problems (welfare, etc). He was trying to tell us how all throughout history, only dictatorships were able to fix countries' problems.

My coworker (who's more right-wing than I am) and I were in shock. We couldn't get him to see reason, either - He even started to use Hitler getting Germany out of it's economic woes in the '30s as an example!!! [banghead][banghead]

I told him that if he started to tell us how Hitler made the trains run on time I would spit in his face.

Then I gave him some specific examples - folks I know who are disabled, or examples of people on welfare - and asked him how he'd solve the problem. He kept trying to use an analogy of being a ship captain with 100 people on board and food for 70 - and I kept saying, "I'm not interested in a thought experiment - what would you do about the concrete examples I gave you?". He kept trying to weasel his way out and not give an answer.

Yeesh. Keep your powder dry, people... those who want to see a dictatorship in the US are still out there.

(not serious, btw)

Tell him to go back to his own shithole country if he likes the results of a dictatorship.

This. In for group buy of a one-way ticket. (am serious here)
Or even better, let him tell that to Yelena.. then let nature take its course. [devil2]

maybe thats why all those countries with dictators have such a great standard of living, and why no one ever risks their life to get the hell out of there.

your co-worker is a retard.

Hitler did get Germany out of an economic recession because he put everyone to work in manufacturing military vehicles. But what happened to Germany later? they were a pile of rubble, divided into east and west, with people starving, and a new recession.

I did. I also offered him a list of nice dictatorships he could go to if he thought this country was such a mess, and I led it off with Cuba and Venezuela.

That's just uneffing real. You should have beat him upside the head and told him he's right and you're starting with him on your way up to the top spot. I really hope he was just trying to get you spun up, I have a co-worker that would do that. He flat out fought with me for 20 minutes claiming that man never landed on the moon and it was all a hoax, despite the fact he didn't actually believe his position and was only taking it just to get me going.

My Wife Is from Russia, and now a US citizen, Laughs when I compare our government or police to communisim or dictatorships. Rightfully so she claims that I "have no idea"

Ross, did he tell you why he wouldn't take your offer of a one way trip to Cuba or Venezuela? (I'll help kick in for some low cost transport.)

I had a co-worker from the Ukraine give me a similar spill one time about gangs. He said no one needed guns besides the government/police, and that anyone associated with a group such as "a gang or other suspected lawbreakers" should be "killed on suspicion".

I asked him how well that worked for his ancestors when Stalin mass-murdered them when they fell into the "suspicious" boat.. he just gave the "well.. THEY have to do SOMETHING" response and wondered off.

LOL thats a good way to get people going. Usually i wait for a bunch of black and white people to be in the cafeteria, and then i ask: "who's better at sports? white or black people?, and who's smarter?" that just gets people going and some funny comments and conversations.

WOW! REALLY?

Ask him how Stalinism worked for his people in the 30s. Ukrainians should be some of the last people to want a dictatorship or gun control.

I work with a lot of Ukrainians, as we have an office in Kiev and more than half the company is located there. I've talked to many of them over the last 4 years, and they would not agree with your coworker at all.

Yup that's the kind of guy he is. His favorite quote "Chaos, confusion and disorder. My work here is done."

sounds like something butters would say in one of his south park "professor chaos" episodes.

Nope, he was serious. That's what's so scary.

Usual liberal doublespeak - he ignored anything he didn't want to answer.

Heh. We did. He tried to say that it was good there and everyone had food. Had no answer when I asked him how many of his countrymen Stalin murdered other than to say that he wasn't there and didn't know about that. F'n clueless.

A Ukrainian apologist who has chosen to forget that 3 million of his countrymen were killed by a man made famine? His own countrymen should whip his ass until the facts sink in.

No need to explode your head. While immigrants from commie countries tend to be more conservative, there will also a percentage of delusional among them.

Punch him in the face and tell him it's OK because you just declared yourself dictator. Then tell him to hand over his wallet and his lunch because there are some folks who need to eat.

Keep his name and address handy for if and when the damage the Socialists have done in this country bring about a breakdown of law and order.

Seriously. That should be a personal score to settle at the approriate time and place.

At least when they start gathering together in stadiums all over the country with their right arm extended out stiffly it will make it that much easier for the rest of us to know who the enemy is.

We can either station Jose at the exit and take down all the names - or put up a cordon around the place and just not let anybody out.

They're just looking for Kyle. He's about so tall...

Both you and Dwarven could also send this link to these two idiots:

http://www.ukrainiangenocide.com/

with a note that says:

Apparently Stalin killed off all the smart people and only the short end of the gene pool survived. At least the Jews remember what dictatorship brought them - apparently Ukranians are too effing retarded to even remember. Why did you move to this country anyway?

I'd like to introduce him to Yelena. I don't think she'd leave anything larger than tiny, bloody bits.

His response:

Ross,

Don’t read the websites created by Ukrainian nationalists who claim that Stalin and his henchmen wanted to wage Holocaust on Ukrainian people aka exterminate all Ukrainians.

If it was so, then can you ask yourself, how come today Ukraine has a population of 47-ish million people with 90% of ethnic Ukrainians?

It’s a very controversial topic so you need to read both sides of this story. Different scholars claim opposite things. The famine was not only in Ukraine but in other regions of Soviet Union.

I recommend you to start with UK Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor

where is says:

The causes of the famine are controversial, and scholars disagree on the relative importance of natural factors and bad economic policies, and debate whether the intentional destruction of Ukrainian peasants took place.[4][12][13][14] Some scholars and politicians use the word Holodomor to emphasize the man-made aspects of the famine, arguing that it was genocide, and some consider the events comparable to the Holocaust.[15] They have argued that the Soviet policies were designed as an attack on the rise of Ukrainian nationalism, and therefore fall under the legal definition of genocide.[16][17][18][19][20]

Others, however, claim that the Holodomor was a consequence of the economic problems associated with radical economic changes implemented during the period of Soviet industrialization.[
