I am headed out for a few days of riding and camping in the
White Mountains next weekend, and I was planning on carrying.
Does anyone know where MA and NH stand on the issue of hard cases, and tank
bags, as immediately accessible, or as lockable vehicle storage? If it is
locked storage, in the hard cases, then I have the PITA of loading and unloading.
If I can keep it as in my "idirect control" in a tank bag, then I believe
I can keep it loaded. In a pinch I suppose I could wear my CCW on my person,
but I was hoping to avoid that while riding some twisties.
I have an MA ALP and a NH NR permit.

Thanks for any advice,
F

NH doesn't have any safe storage bullshit, so you won't have any problems there with handguns, period. If you want to keep a loaded handgun around in a box or whatever, that's fine, because you have an NR pistol permit. If you didn't you would just have to unload the gun, no locks of any kind required.

MA requires "unloaded and in a locked container" unless the gun is "under your direct control" - whatever that means- although IMO it's widely considered to be on-body carry, but that issue is subject to debate.
