Those make good shooters, which I like .
Watching- thanks!
I dont think we will see much of any decline in value of the "old" guns until the Korean/Vietnam war era guys start domping what they have to pay for medical bills. this may or may not be happening now? I know in the last 5-8 years we seen several really large collections go through the auctions from older estates. RIA had a huge military surplus auction last fall.Almost all mil surp guns go up forever, it just matters how much and how long. Oh the stories of, "What I could have bought and for ridiculous prices." are but just memories.
Can you imagine I tried to talk a pal into buying a pristine, USN 1939 blued 1911A1 in 1973. It was at the local store. He said it was too expensive. I bought it and it hurt to do so at the time. $260.00.

Anyone expecting a decline in milsurp prices due to a shitty economy going forward? Do they usually drop when the economy takes a hit? What was the milsurp market like in 2008?
And me...

I have been buying up G/K 43's up lately. When more come out of the wood work, I buy them up. I can tell you that the prices are not going down but going up.

Prices overall were so high that if it wasn't a legit auction house I'd be tempted to call bullshit.
That's a 3k specialty item with very limited availability. The darn mag costs more than entry level milsurps.
eh , problem is back in the late eighties early 90s the milsurps where just old junk. My dad would always say "what do you want with the worn out surplus junk" even still though the stuff was not all that cheap at least for me being 18 in 1988... For me a good deal was the $22 22s in the bucket at kittery or the stuff in the gunsmith corner. I thought a great deal was the SKS and the AK from kittery $89 and free case of corrosive ammo with each purchase. You mentioned the Vietnam/Korea vets, don't forget the boomers that inherited the WWII stuff from dad are getting up there too.
We are just old and remember what we could have / should have bought at ridiculously low numbers.
Didn't Lugers drop in price in the middle 70's with a large import? They did not stay low for long.
Damn, imagine buying a few crates of those!
I'd guess 60's? edit- may have been late 50's.
How many are old enough to remember catalogs, mail order, giving your mother money for a check, and SASEs?

I dont remember the 80s and 90s being affordable ?
