Mass doctors have right to discuss gun safety

I used my doctor as a reference on my ltc app just last year. He has all so asked about the course for his wife and daughter since then both his wife and daughter have taken the course and applied for their ltc not all doctors think guns are evil .

and my doc is a rabid Obama hater. I still don't want any mention of my non-medical related private info in my medical records.

Bad enough they know about the medical issues, like my vulnerability to a glowing green substance.

It's all just another "end run" around the Constitution to eliminate private gun ownership. Once they get everyone's medical and psychological histories in the system it will be easy to deny or revoke a license.

This is just one of the first steps - Doctor training.

Then you will need a Doctor's permission as well as the Chief of Police. Or you will be considered "high risk" if you own a gun and Insurance premiums will go up or you will be denied coverage. Of course you can have a gun if you want but you will be denied medical coverage.

Ever sought counseling for rape, post partem depression, relationship problems, post traumatic stress(former military), drug addiction, depression over the loss of a loved on, sleep disorders, quitting smoking, weight loss - you are too unstable too have a gun.

At some point I could see them say "Of course you can have a gun if you are not "Mentally Ill"(They define Mentally Ill however they want) - Oh you have or want an EVIL gun? Well you must be mentally ill then - So you can't have one.

I didn't know that the MMS was a governmental body vested with the power to grant rights. Oh wait, they aren't. They are a bunch of socialist doctors who are giving their opinion on something that is of no concern to them and about which they know nothing. We all know what opinions and anuses have in common right?

I have to say, I'm very comfortable with my primary care doctor, we get along just fine. On my first visit I knew it was going to be good, he had at least a dozen gun magazines in his waiting room. I have other doc.'s ask the questions and I always
answer, yes, I feel safe at home, NO guns at home, but I do have a great many deadly pieces of equipment and tools at hand
in my shop. Once in a while it draws them out but mostly just ends the conversation.

My doctor knows where I stand on this issue and he doesn't ask me. The time he did, he started out by asking if I kept the guns and ammunition stored separately. I told him they weren't of any use to me stored that way. That was the last I heard about it.

If I ever do go to a different doctor and this comes up, I'll just wait until he starts to talk about gun safety. Then I'll take out my NRA Instructor card (which I expect to have in a couple of months) and ask him if he has any questions. I think it will be worth it just for the comedic value.

The most troubling thing is that my doctor and I'm sure most of yours, as will they all soon, put everything in their medical database system. Who has access? The RMV so they can ticket me for not wearing a seatbelt? My insurance company so they can raise my premiums? Or Big Brother so they will know who has guns?

Just take my blood pressure and leave me the hell alone!

Actually, yes. You have already signed paperwork allowing your doctor and insurance company to exchange your information if you have health insurance.

I was referring to auto insurance with the seatbelt example.

Reading comprehension fail on my part. [grin]

...Though I'm sure that a bill allowing auto insurers to consult with medical professionals for "liability assessment purposes" will be along shortly, and that you will either be forced to sign your consent or face the prospect of not being able to buy auto insurance.
